Education as a promoter of strengthening national identity

Abstract

The lack of knowledge and the lack of interest in the national identity of the current citizens are worrisome, being a latent problem that is making the roots of the country invisible; For this reason, it seeks to revitalize the aforementioned roots to make teachers and students aware of the "Being Ecuadorian". In order to fulfill the goal, the authors propose the objective of identifying the role that Higher Education plays in the dissemination of national identity. The research arises from the subjectivist epistemology, with the pragmatic paradigm under a qualitative methodology. The design is cross-sectional that is supported by the phenomenological. The planned and systemic tools applied to the academic planning of the National Reality subject of three universities in the context were used. The results were interpreted qualitatively. A strategy was designed under the edges of Ecuador's gastronomy, music and literature. Didactic resources, theoretical and historical bases were used to strengthen the axis of national identity. Finally, the strategy was confirmed by groups of experts and they conclude that the didactic strategy created combines scientific knowledge and emotions, which motivates higher education students to restore the sense of identity and love for the country.
